He was born in Nicosia in 1983. After completing his primary education at Akdoğan Primary School and his secondary and high school education at Nicosia Turkish Maarif College, he entered the Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. During his undergraduate education, he continued his education at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Bologna, in Italy, for 6 months within the framework of the Erasmus student exchange program. He completed his undergraduate education in 2005 and started his doctorate education in the same year. After completing his doctorate education, he graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2009 and gained the title of PhD.

In 2009, he started to work as a lecturer at the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. In 2010, he was granted the European Union Education Scholarship and conducted research and studies for 3 months at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Bologna, Italy. Osman Ergene was promoted to Assistant Professor rank in 2011 and was appointed as Assistant Dean in the same year. Ergene, who also served as the chief physician at the Near East University Animal Hospital between 2014 and 2022, is currently working as a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He is proficient in English language.
